Meatless Beauty

I'M NOT ONLY a beauty pageant fan, but I am also an ardent animal welfare activist and promoter of plant-based nutrition (veganism). I believe that true beauty starts with a kind heart, and that kindness should be extended to all animals. In this day and age when there are so many healthier and more affordable non-animal alternatives, it is no longer necessary to slaughter billions of helpless creatures for their meat. Sadly, in America where I live (and also in most industrialized nations of the world), the so-called farm animals (cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, sheep) are no longer treated as farm animals but mere factory animals - crammed in unlivable cages, deprived of proper food and medical attention, mistreated, beaten, tortured and finally gruesomely killed. Imagine your own pet experiencing the same fate.

If we wish to live in a better, healthier and happier planet, we need to stop for a moment and focus on the tremendous suffering that we have inflicted upon animals, as well as on our horrific acts towards polluting our environment. We need to constantly ask ourselves, "What can I do to save Earth and diminish the suffering of her beautiful creatures?" You can begin by stop eating meat like I did! The less people eat meat, the less animals are killed. And the less animals are killed, there will be less suffering in the world. Make yourself more beautiful by eliminating meat in your diet! - Rafa

Great quotes by beautiful people

"Nothing's changed my life more. I feel better about myself as a person, being conscious and responsible for my actions and I lost weight and my skin cleared up and I got bright eyes and I just became stronger and healthier and happier. Can't think of anything better in the world to be but be vegan.” "
- Alica Silverstone

"There is no fundamental difference between man and the higher animals in their mental faculties... The lower animals, like man, manifestly feel pleasure and pain, happiness, and misery.""
- Charles Darwin

"If Americans were to reduce their meat consumption by only 10 per cent for one year, it would free at least 12 millions tons of grain for human consumption - or enough to feed 60 million people... Indeed, if Americans were to stop eating grain-fed beef altogether the grain thus released would be enough to feed all the 600 million people in India.""
- Peter Singer, author of Animal Liberation

"A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral."
- Leo Tolstoy

"Killing animals for sport, for pleasure, for adventure, and for hides and furs is a phenomena which is at once disgusting and distressing. There is no justification in indulging is such acts of brutality."
- The XLV Dalai Lama

"We consume the carcasses of creatures of like appetites, passions and organs with our own, and fill the slaughterhouses daily with screams of pain and fear."
- Robert Louis Stevenson

"There were no slaughterhouses in the Garden of Eden."
- Unknown

"When it comes to having a central nervous system, and the ability to feel pain, hunger, and thirst, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy."
- Ingrid Newkirk, National Director of PETA

"Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace."
- Albert Schweitzer , French philosopher, physician, and musician (Nobel 1952)

"For if animals are God's creatures, we have no absolute rights over them, only the duty to look after them as God would look after them. To stand with Jesus is to reject our view of ourselves as gods and lords of creation. We are to honor life for the sake of the Lord of life." "
- Rev. Dr. Andrew Linzey, from Animal Gospel

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
- Gandhi

"In fact, if one person is unkind to an animal it is considered to be cruelty, but where a lot of people are unkind to animals, especially in the name of commerce, the cruelty is condoned and, once large sums of money are at stake, will be defended to the last by otherwise intelligent people." " Ruth Harrison, author of Animal Machines

"As long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap the joy of love." - Pythagoras

"Not to hurt our humble brethren (the animals) is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission--to be of service to them whenever they require it... If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men."
- St. Francis of Assisi

"He who does not value life does not deserve it.”
- Leonardo da Vinci

"I do not want to make my stomach a graveyard of dead animals.”
- George Bernard Shaw

"The Utopians feel that slaughtering our fellow creatures gradually destroys the sense of compassion, which is the finest sentiment of which our human nature is capable"
- Thomas More (1478-1535)

"Killing an animal to make a coat is a sin. It wasn't meant to be and we have no right to do it. A woman gains status when she refuses to see anything killed to be put on her back. Then she's truly beautiful!"
- Doris Day
