Dates and Venue for Miss Progress International 2015

Giuseppe Borrillo, the director of the Miss Progress International (MPI) pageant, released a statement confirming the dates and venue of the 2015 competition. The 3rd edition of MPI will take place in Puglia, Italy again from May 8 to 17, 2015. Over 50 young women are expected to compete. The event is produced by Associazione Culturale IN PROGRESS.

The first pageant was held on September 24, 2010 in Taranto, Italy and was won by Tanzania's Julieth William Lugembe. According to the official website, the pageant aims to give women around the world the "role of Ambassador of Progress in full compliance with each one’s culture, traditions and religion." It The pageant claims that it is the first pageant dedicated to promoting the integration of cultures, health, environment and human rights. Thus, the jury selects four winners for each of these categories plus the main winner: Miss Progress International (the main title) and four subsidiary titles - Miss Progress Integration of Cultures, Miss Progress Health, Miss Progress Environment and Miss Progress Human Rights.

No pageant was held from 2011-2013. In 2014, the pageant took place in Santa Maria di Leuca, Italy on May 17th and was won by Bolivia's Arantza Barba.

Miss Brazil 2014

Melissa Gurgel, 20, Miss Ceará, was crowned Miss Brazil 2014 on Saturday, September 27, at Centro de Eventos do Ceará. She will now compete in Miss Universe 2015 to be held in Doral, Florida on January 25, 2015. The 1st runner-up is Fernanda Leme, 22, Miss São Paulo and the 2nd runner-up is Deise Benício, 23, Miss Rio Grande do Norte. 


Miss Lithuania 2014

Agne Kavaliauskaite, 21, was crowned Miss Lithuania 2014 in the city of Kedainiai last weekend. She will compete in Miss World 2014 to be held in London on December 14. The 1st runner-up is Patricija Belousova, 18, who will compete in Miss Universe 2015 in Doral, Florida on January 25. The 2nd runner-up is
Domante Kelbauskaite.


Miss Ukraine 2014

 Andriana Khasanshin, 19, was selected as Miss Ukraine 2014 and will represent her country in the Miss World 2014 pageant to be held in London on December 14.  The  first runner-up was Alina Markauskaite from Dnipropetrovsk, the second runner-up was Beatrisa Mindak from Uzhgorod. Miss International Ukraine 2014 is Yana Ravlikovska, from Mariupol.

Miss World Mongolia 2014

 Battsetseg Turbat, 23, was crowned by Miss World Mongolia 2014. She will compete in Miss World 2014. to be held on December 14th in London, England. Turbat was Mongolia's representative in Miss Earth 2012 and Miss Tourism Queen International 2013.

Miss Croatia 2014

 Anotonija Gogic, 23, was crowned Miss Hrvatske (Croatia) 2014 last week. She will represent Croatia in Miss World 2014 to be held in London on December 14th.  The first runner-up was Ivana Mandaric and the second runner-up was Hana Basic.  

Miss World Germany 2014

 Egzonita Ala, 17, was crowned the title of Miss Deutschland 2014 or Miss World Germany 2014 at the on September 20th, 2014 at the Hohensyburg Casino in Dortmund. She will represent Germany at the Miss World 2014 pageant on December 14th, 2014 in London, England. The first runner-up was Fjollza Avdiu and the second runner-up was Sabrina Nennemann.  

Miss Universe New Zealand 2014

 Rachel Millns, 23, was crowned Miss Universe New Zealand 2014 on September 18th, 2014 at the SkyCity, 72 Victoria St West, Auckland. She will represent New Zealand at the Miss Universe 2015 pageant to be held on January 18th, 2015 in Doral, Florida. Millns won the national title on her third try.


Miss World Dominican Republic 2014

Dhio Moreno, 24, was crowned Miss World Dominican Republic 2014 on September 10th, 2014 at the Plaza Sambil in Santo Domingo. She will compete in Miss World 2014 pageant scheduled for December 14th in London, England. At the same event, Miss Dominican Community in the USA, Barbara Santana, was crowned Miss International Dominican Republic 2014 and will compete in Miss International 2014.

Miss South Sudan 2014

19-year-old Awien Bol Kuanyin Agoth was crowned Miss World South Sudan 2014 on September 12 at the Freedom Hall in Juba.  She will compete in Miss World 2014 pageant to be held in London, England on December 14. The 2nd runner-up is Salwa Ajuong (left) and the 1st runner-up, Mariam Nyach (right).

Miss Universe China 2014

The new Miss Universe China 2014 is Nora Xu, 19,  who was crowned last night. She will compete at Miss Universe 2015 pageant to be held in Doral, Florida on January 18th.

Miss World Spain 2014

The new Miss World Spain 2014 is Lourdes Rodriguez representing Castilla-La Mancha. She will compete in Miss World 2014 pageant to be held on December 14 in London, England.


Miss Slovenia 2014

The new Miss World Slovenia 2014 is Julija Bizjak who was crowned September 11. She will compete in Miss World 2014 to be held in London on Dec. 14. Runners-up were Anja Mihelič and Anja Kragelj.


Miss Algeria 2014

Fatma-Zohra Sabrine Chouib, 20, from Bab El Oued was crowned Miss Algeria 2014 on September 6 in Algiers. She will compete in Miss World 2014 to be held in London on December 14. Geneviève de Fontenay, the ex-director of Miss France who served as a judge, caused quite a stir when she inadvertently said "French Algeria" while on stage (Algeria is an independent country and was a former French colony). In protest, the country's Telecommunications Minister, Fatla-Zohra Derdouri, left the ballroom, followed by other VIPs. De Fontenay later clarified herself by saying, "I didn't mean to say French Algeria. I meant to say that I have always wanted a Miss France of Maghreb (Northern Africa) origin."  Yeah, whatever you say, Ginny!

Miss Haiti 2014

Carolyn Desert was crowned Miss Haiti 2014 on September 7. She will compete in Miss Universe 2014 whose date and venue are still to be confirmed. Her court includes 1st runner-up Rose Cathelyne Paul, 2nd runner-up Chistie Désir, 3rd runner-up Nastassia Raymond, and 4th runner-up Jennifer Verdieu.

Miss America Latina del Mundo 2014 (Miss Latin America of the World 2014)

Nicole Pinto, Miss Panama, was crowned as Miss America Latina del Mundo 2014 during a ceremony held in Bavara, Dominican Republic on September 6. 

The first runner-up is Yanire Ortiz of Spain, the second runner-up is Patricia Guerra of Brazil, the third runner-up is Michelle Cohn of Guatemala, and the fourth runner-up is Miluska Huaroto of Peru. Twenty-three young women competed in this year's pageant that celebrates Latina beauty.


Miss Universe Ghana 2014

Abena Appiah has been crowned Miss Universe Ghana 2014 on August 29th at La Palm Hotel in Accra. She beat 9 other ladies to win the coveted title of representing Ghana at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant whose date and venue are still to be announced.

The first runner-up was thebasketball player and model Briggette Appiah  (right) and the second runner-up was Emerald Ansah (left), the movie enthusiast and entrepreneur.
