Mexico Wins Miss Intercontinental 2017

Vallejo (left) reacts to her win as Rodriguez (right) comforts her Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico was crowned Miss Intercontinental 2017 at a gala event held on January 24 at the SUNRISE Garden Beach Resort in Hurghada, Egypt. She is the first Mexican to win the crown. Her court includes 1st runner-up Katarina Rodriguez of Philippines, 2nd runner-up Cathelijne Heppenhuis of the Netherlands, 3rd runner-up Amanda Cardoso of Brazil, 4th runner-up  Lizeth Villanueva of Colombia, and 5th runner-up Lee Su Jin of Korea.  The 2017 pageant was initially scheduled to take place last October, but was delayed for three months due to unforeseen circumstances. The entire show was live streamed via the official Miss Intercontinental Facebook page as well as YouTube. Manhunt Founder And Beauty Pageant Veteran Alex Liu Dies At 57

Beauty pageant veteran Alex Liu reportedly died of a sudden heart attack while in a taxi on Jan 22, 2018.  PHOTO: MANHUNT INTERNATIONAL SINGAPORE - Beauty pageant veteran and founder of the Manhunt competition, Mr Alex Liu , died on Monday (Jan 22). He was 57. According to a spokesman for his company, Exclusive Resources Marketing, he died of a heart attack in a taxi en route to Tan Tock Seng Hospital from his house in Toa Payoh at about 2pm. Described as "the godfather of beauty pageants in Singapore", Mr Liu organised women's beauty pageants such as Miss Singapore Universe and Miss Chinatown after he set up Metromedia Marketing in 1984. Noticing an increase in men's products at a department store, he came up with the idea of the first male model contest in Singapore. Miss Universe Malaysia 2018

KUALA LUMPUR: Speechless Jane Teoh could only shed tears when she was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2018 at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. As the ballroom erupted in cheer, the 20-year-old was in shock as her predecessor, Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha Katie James , presented her with the crown and sash. The accounting and finance student said she wanted to be an agent of change and to inspire those around her. “I want to be remembered as a woman who made a difference. My wish as Miss Universe Malaysia is to spread my philanthropic work,” said Teoh moments before she was crowned. The 178cm-tall part-time model, who was also named Miss Online Personality, beat 16 other hopefuls for the crown and also the chance to represent the country at the Miss Universe 2018 pageant. Miss Universe Vietnam 2018

25-year-old H'Hen Niê was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2018 at Crown Center in Nha Trang on January 6, 2018. She will represent Vietnam in Miss Universe 2018.  Niê makes Vietnamese pageant history by being the first woman from the ethnic minority group, Ede, to win the national pageant.   The first runner-up is Hoang Thuy and the second runner-up is Mau Thuy . Gretchen Carlson Predicts "Tsunami" of Change at Miss America After Email Scandal

After former Miss America (1989) and  Fox & Friends  co-host Gretchen Carlson was  recently named  chair of the Miss America Organization board of directors, Carlson sat down with  Good Morning America  Friday to explain how her new role will jumpstart a “tsunami” of change. Carlson's high-profile sexual harassment lawsuit in 2016 against ex-Fox News CEO Roger Ailes , which led to a $20 million settlement, was one of many factors that precipitated this fall's wave of sexual misconduct claims in Hollywood. Carlson told  GMA  that the post-Weinstein revolution has provided the courage that was previously nonexistent for women in society and within the Miss America organization.  “When I jumped off my cliff on the whole sexual harassment story 18 months ago, that was a lonely experience,” said Carlson. “But look at what happened when that gift of courage kept being passed on to one woman to another to another.” Carlson’s new role comes in wake of the organizatio
