New Philippine Queens for 2017

The 2017 Binibining Pilipinas pageant was held ast night at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila. After an hour of deliberation by the judges, six lucky young women were awarded the following titles: Miss Universe-Philippines 2017- Rachel Peters  Bb. Pilipinas International 2017 - Maria Angelica de Leon Bb Pilipinas Supranational 2017- Chanel Olive Thomas Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017 - Katarina Sonja Rodriguez Bb Pilipinas Grand International - Elizabeth Clenci Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2017 - Nelda Ibe 1st runner-up - Charmaine Elima 2nd runner-up -   Kristel Guelos

Miss Indonesia 2017

Achintya Holte Nilsen was crowned Miss Indonesia 2017 in MNC Studio, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta on April 22nd. She was crowned by her predecessor Miss Indonesia 2016 and Miss World 2016 2nd runner-up Natasha Mannuela. The reigning Miss World Stephanie Del Valle also assisted in the coronation. Astrini Putri was named as the first runner-up whiel Ivhanrel Eltrisna Sumerah was the second runner-up.  Nilsen, who is half-Norwegian, speaks fluent English. Miss World Sweden 2017

  Hanna-Louise Haag Tuvér  was crowned Miss World Sweden 2017 at Grand Hotel Stockholm on April 18. She is 20 years old and comes from Gavle.  She  will now represent her country in Miss World 2017 pageant to be held in China later this year.  On the same evening, Adam El Mallah , a 23-year-old gym instructor, was elected Mr. Sweden World 2017 and will compete in the next edition of Mr. World. Miss Russia 2017

MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/.   Polina Popova , representing the Sverdlovsk Region in the Urals, was crowned Miss Russia-2017 during the final show held in the Barvikha Luxury Village concert hall in Moscow on Saturday night. Polina is 21 years old. She enjoys playing tennis and cooking, and studies Chinese. Her favorite book is Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. The winner was crowned by Miss Russia-2016, Yana Dobrovolskaya of Tyumen, with a crown of white gold, decorated with diamonds and pearls and worth more than $1 million. She also receives a prize of 3 million rubles (over $53,000 at the current exchange rate), a car and an opportunity to represent Russia at the Miss World and Miss Universe competitions. Ksenia Alexandrova of Moscow was named first runner-up, Albina Akhtyamova of Bashkortostan - second runner-up. Las Vegas To Host Miss USA 2017 Pageant

The Miss Universe Organization has still not sent out an official statement regarding the date and the venue of the Miss USA 2017 pageant; however, several Miss USA 2017 contestants and state directors have been posting that the pageant will be held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 14. This will be the eighth time for the City of Lights to host the pageant which is now owned by WME/IMG company.  The current Miss USA is Deshauna Barber  (above) from the District of Columbia who was crowned last June 5 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Former Miss World Kaiane Aldorino Lopez Becomes Mayor of Gibraltar

New mayor Kaiane Lopez broke records yesterday as both Gibraltar’s youngest and the first Miss World to be a mayor. The 30-year old former beauty queen crowned Miss World 2009 is also Gibraltar’s third female to take on the role of mayor. In her honour Miss World Chairwoman Julia Morley attended the ceremony and donated $10,000 on behalf of the ‘Beauty with a purpose’ campaign to Gibraltar for children in need. Mrs Morley told the Chronicle she plans on visiting the Rock in the coming months to work further with the former Miss World and new Mayor. Yesterday outgoing Mayor Adolfo Canepa passed on the mayoral medallion to Mrs Lopez at an Investiture Ceremony held at the City Hall, marking the start of her tenure.
