Miss Iraq 2021 Crowned

Maria Farhad, representing Nineveh Plains, was crowned Miss Iraq 2021 in Baghdad last Friday. Twenty young women, mostly from the Kurdistan area, competed in the pageant. It is not clear if Farhad will compete internationally. The last time Iraq competed internationally was at Miss Universe 2017 when Sarah Idan represented the war-torn country despite protests from hard-line Islamic groups.
