Venezuela wins Miss Tourism International 2014

The last international pageant of the year 2014 took place just before the strike of midnight of December 31st in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Faddya Isabel Halabi, Miss  Venezuela, was crowned Miss Tourism International 2014, making her the first woman from her country to win the title since the pageant began in 1994. Five other candidates were crowned subsidiary titles - all supposedly in equal standing: Miss Thailand - Tourism Queen of the Year  2014   Miss Philippines - Miss Tourism Metropolitan International  2014   Miss China - Miss Cosmopolitan International  2014   Miss Netherlands - Miss Tourism Global International  2014   Miss Vietnam - Miss Southeast Asia  2014   The pageant is run  by the D’ Touch International Sdn Bhd Foundation. Sixty-two countries competed in the 2014 edition.

Miss Angola 2015

Whitney Shikongo , representing Huila, 19, was crowned  Miss Angola 2015  on December 21st, 2014 in the capital city of  Luanda.  She will represent Angola in the  Miss Universe 2015  pageant.

Fraud alert: Miss Universal Peace and Humanity Organization

The Daily Star Lebanon published an article written by Mazin Sidahmed exposing Asra Shahid's husband, Dr. Mohammed Shahid Khan , as a fake goodwill ambassador who is not related with the United Nations Organization as he claims on his website. It also mentions Asra Shahid as the founder of a bogus pageant, Miss Universal Peace and Humanity, and mentions Critical Beauty as the pageant blog that "posted several complaints of potential candidates..." South Africa crowned Miss World 2014

Photo credit: Miss World Organization Rolene Strauss , a 22-year-old fourth-year medical student from South Africa, was crowned Miss World 2014 Sunday afternoon, December 14, at the ICC Auditorium in London's ExCel Centre. She is the third woman from her country to have won the coveted title ( Penelope Anne Coelen won first in 1958, followed by Anneline Kriel in 1974 who won by default when the original winner, Helen Morgan of the UK, resigned four days after her victory).  Asked why she should be the next Miss World, Strauss replied, "Being proudly South African, I have first-hand experience that unity, respect, forgiveness exists those all the aspirations of the Miss World organization, so it would be amazing to represent an organization that is a beacon of hope all over the world."  The first runner-up is Edina Kulcsár of Hungary and the second runner-up is Elizabeth Safrit of the United States. Ex-Miss Indiana Terrin Thomas arrested on alcohol-related charges

At 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to 300 block of East 8th Street on a report of an intoxicated female knocking on the caller's apartment door for about half an hour. The caller said the female was banging on the door and yelling, "let me in." Officers arrived found Terrin Thomas (photo) still outside of the door. Thomas was won the Miss Indiana pageant in 2013. Bloomington police said Thomas appeared to be intoxicated based upon her slurred speech and abusive attitude toward them. The officer also reported noticing a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Thomas. Thomas was wearing shorts, a long-sleeve shirt and socks. Miss France 2015

Credit: LAURENTVU/SIPA/1412081041 - SIPA Camille Cerf , Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, has been crowned Miss France 2015 on December 6th at the Zenith in Orléans. She is 19 and is in her second year of business school. Hinirere Taputu , Miss Tahiti, was runner-up, Charlotte Pirroni , Miss Côte d’Azur, was second runner-up. Malaurie Eugenie , Miss Aquitaine, and Alyssa Wurtz , Miss Alsace, were fourth and fifth. The placings were determined by the viewing public, who made their decision through SMS and telephone voting. The live telecast on TF1 is expected to get near a 40 per cent share once ratings are confirmed. Cerf will represent France in the 2015 Miss Universe pageant to be held in Doral, Florida on January 25, 2015.

India wins Miss Supranational 2014

Asha Bat , 22, of India (center) was crowned Miss Supranational 2014 in Poland last night, defeating over 70 contestants during a grand television production.  Her court includes (from left to right): 4th runner-up  Miss Poland,  Kasia Krzeszowska ;  2nd runner-up Miss Gabon,  Maggaly Nguema ; Bat;  1st runner-up Miss Thailand,  Pla Disramdong; and   3rd runner-up Miss USA,  Allyn Rose. Advancing to top 10 were the delegates from the Czech Republic, Myanmar, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Spain. Completing the top 20 were the representatives from Argentina, Austalia, Belarus, Canada, Chile, Philippines, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland and Trinidad & Tobago. Baht was crowned by her predecessor Mutya Datul of the Philippines.

Thailand wins Miss Intercontinental 2014

Photo credit: World Beauty Organization Patraporn Wang of Thailand (center) was crowned  Miss Intercontinental 2014 on December 4 in Magdeburg, Germany. The second runner-up is Kris Tiffany Janson of the Philippines (left) and the 1st runner-up is Jeslie Margal of Cuba. The other three finalists were Misses South Africa, Argentina and Portugal. Originally, a top 5 list was announced, but in an interesting turn of events, pageant officials announced that Miss Philippines tied with Miss Thailand in the semis, thus allowing Thailand to be included in the final 6. Curiously, both countries also share the Continental Queen award for Asia & Oceania. Philippines wins Miss Earth 2014

Hometown girl Jamie Herrell , 20, was crowned Miss Earth 2014 last November 29 at the University of the Philippines Theater in Quezon City. She is the second Filipina to win the coveted crown ( Karla Henry won in 2008).  Her court includes in the photo from left to right: Maira Alexandra Rodriguez of Venezuela (Miss Earth Fire 2014), Herrell, Andre Neu of USA (Miss Earth Air 2014), and Anastasia Trusova of Russia (Miss Earth Water 2014).  Advancing to top 8 were the delegates from the Slovak Republic, Spain, Brazil and Mongolia. Completing the top 16 were the candidates from Colombia, Egypt, Korea, Mexico, Scotland, Tahiti, Thailand and Zambia, The Miss Earth pageant's slogan is "Beauties With A Cause" and seeks to promote environmental causes by working with international ecological organizations to implement a cleaner and safer Earth.

Miss Honduras 2014 Maria Jose Alvarado and sister found dead

Maria Jose Alvarado , 19, and her sister Sofia Trinidad , 23, had not been seen since 13 November, said beauty pageant organiser Eduardo Zablah . Both were last spotted leaving a party in the Santa Barbara region and four people have been questioned over the pair's disappearance, including Maria Alvarado's boyfriend.  Honduran police chief Jose Coello confirmed: "Four people are under arrest. They include the owner of the party venue and Sofia Trinidad's boyfriend. They are being investigated." Alvarado was crowned Miss Honduras World 2014 on 26 April in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, and was set to compete in the Miss World competition in London on 14 December. San Pedro Sula has been described by some as the murder capital of the world with over 1,200 murders a year among a population of almost one million people. Miss Colombia 2014

Ariadna Gutierrez was elected Miss Colombia 2014 on Monday, becoming the first representative of the state of Sucre to ever win the award. She is expected to compete in 2016 Miss Universe pageant. The 20-year-old professional model was voted new Miss Colombia during the National Beauty Contest gala held in Cartagena. At the coronation ceremony, she received a near perfect 9,9 note. She was elected out of 26 candidates. It is the first time in the history of the pageant that the top prize was given to a candidate from the Sucre state at the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. In one of the most-watched annual events in Colombia, the jury elected Natalia Ochoa (Antioquia) as the first runner-up, Jesica Paola Castañeda (Cauca) as the second runner-up, and Viviana Davila (Bogota) as the third runner-up. Miss Honduras 2014 Maria Jose Alvarado Reported Missing Ahead of Pageant

Tegucigalpa, Honduras (CNN) -- A Honduran beauty queen has disappeared days before the start of the Miss World pageant. Investigators are searching for Miss Honduras World María José Alvarado Muñoz  (above) and her sister, who went missing on Thursday, police in the Central American country said Sunday. Family members reported their disappearance on Saturday, police said. Eduardo Zablah, director of the pageant in Honduras, told CNN affiliate Televicentro that the sisters were last seen getting into a vehicle after attending a party last week. Contestants from more than 120 countries are scheduled to start arriving in London this week for early rounds of the Miss World pageant. They'll face off in a final round on December 14.
