Mr. Model Universe Ghana to whip up male pageants in Ghana
Organisers of the maiden edition of the Mr Model Universe Ghana 2012 pageant say male pageants are here to stay as they hope to compete with the female dominated events in Ghana.
According to them, males also have the same potential as their female counterparts, and can equally use their physic and intelligence to change society.
The pageant, the brain child of Zogar Events and Utain Entertainment with the support of Walk Model Management, targets males between the ages of 18 and 29 years with the sole aim of unlocking their potentials to represent Ghana at the international level.
Gerald Howard, a member of the organizers explained in an interview with Myjoyonline.com that the pageant will enable "Ghanaian men to actually showcase their culture out there.”
“International male pageant called Mr. Earth," he said for instance, "has been going on for a long time so I think it is high time to actually bring it down to Ghana to let people know how well Ghanaian men can actually showcase their culture.”
He said they are looking an outspoken person, "someone that looks good in pictures and intelligent and can represent Ghana” to apply for the pageant.
Prospective contestants would be auditioned at the New Executive Theatre on March 31.
25 applicants will be selected from the 2-day audition who will later be sieved to 10 for the finale. The 10 will be groomed for two to three weeks to improve their personality for the finale.
The finale, which is expected to witness exciting performances and a special appearance from Big Brother Africa star, Alex Biney, will come off on April 21 at the Coconut Groove Regency hotel in Accra.
There will be two winners on the night. The ultimate winner will represent Ghana at the Mr. Earth pageant to be held in Guatemala in October this year.
The first runner-up will also represent Ghana at the Mr. Model Universe International pageant in Panama in January 2013.
