Miss Universe Argentina 2024 Magali Benejam Dethroned

 

For the first time in the 73-year history of the Miss Universe Organization, a contestant has been stripped of her national title due to public comments she made which do not align with MUO’s “high standards of personal and professional conduct," according to a press release published on the Miss Universe website on January 2, 2025.

Magali Benejam, Miss Universe Argentina 2024, made the top 12 during the Miss Universe 2024 finals held in Mexico City last November 16. Now she has lost her national title, much to the dismay and anger of her supporters. During an interview with a popular Latin American YouTuber, King Lucho, Benejam criticized Miss Brazil Luana Cavalcante and Miss Dominican Republic Celinee Santos for behaving like divas. She also said that Santos and two other contestants, Miss Canada Ashley Callingbull and Miss Denmark Victoria Kjaer Theilvig did not belong in the top 12, and that Denmark's victory was rigged because of business.
