NBC dumps Trump; bows to Mexican pressure

NBC Universal – under pressured from Hispanic groups – is cutting ties with GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The Miss USA pageant was scheduled for July 12, but will no longer air on NBC after the network decided to sever its business relations with Trump – who owns the pageant – following his statements on the southern border and illegal immigrants during his announcement speech this month.
“At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values,” the company said, according to CNN. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best… They’re sending people who have lots of problems,” Trump said during his formal announcement speech in New York City. “They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
“These comments caused a firestorm and widespread condemnations, leading Univision to end a five-year contract to air Miss USA and Miss Universe after only five months,” CNN reported.
NBC originally said Trump’s statements during his speech, “do not represent those of NBC, and we do not agree with his positions on a number of issues, including his recent comments on immigration.”
However, now – like Univsion – NBC will not broadcast the Miss USA pageant.

End Of The Year Review - Pageantry In 2021

And the winner is... Miss Quasi-Normal. Runners-up include Miss Apartheid Universe and Miss Covid World.         2021 pageantry was characterized by a gradual return to normalcy as pageant competitions – which had been cancelled or postponed in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic – succeeded in staging physical productions while paying close attention to universal safety guidelines. Even major events like the Tokyo Summer Olympics, which was cancelled in 2020, successfully took place in 2021. Miss Universe and Miss Grand International held two editions (one each for 2020 and 2021), The Miss World finals was postponed for March 2022 after several contestants had tested positive for COVID-19 in Puerto Rico which hosts the pageant. The year was also a milestone for Miss Universe and Miss World’s 70th anniversary and Miss America’s 100th anniversary. The email was cc’d to Crystle and Michael Hannah (franchise director of Miss USA). The author of the email claims that MUO has been sent substantial evidence of Sebrechts’ sexual predatory behavior and Shugart has known about it for a while but didn’t say anything (obviously to cover it up and to protect Crystle). Natly also displays screenshots of direct messages sent to her by former Miss USA contestants (the names hav
